Strofa 1 Te iubesc Isuse, știu că ești al meu; (I love You, Jesus; I know You are mine;) A lumii plăcere n’o mai doresc eu. (I no longer desire the world's pleasure.) Cât bucuria ta, alt’ nu prețuesc, (I prize nothing else as much as Your joy;) De Te-am iubit cândva acum te iubesc. (If ever I loved You, I love You now.)

Strofa 2 Ca să mă răscumperi, pe cruce-ai murit, (To redeem me, You died on the cross;) Te iubesc căci spinii fruntea Ți-au rănit. (I love You, for the thorns wounded Your brow.) Te iubesc căci tu pe mine m’ai iubit, (I love You, for You have loved me;) De Te-am iubit cândva, acuma este! (If ever I loved You, now is the time!)

Strofa 3 Te vreau în viața’n moarte te iubesc! (I want You in life; in death I love You!) Te prețuesc Doamne pe cât timp trăesc! (I cherish You, Lord, for as long as I live!) Și când sudoarea morții m’acopere, (And when the sweat of death covers me,) Voi zice: Isuse, acum te iubesc. (I will say: Jesus, now I love You.)

Strofa 4 În fața mărirei, pe tronu-i ceresc, (In the presence of glory, upon its heavenly throne,) Uita-mi-voi Jalea, ce’n urma-mi găsesc. (I will forget the sorrow I leave behind.) Pe cap purtând coroana vieții-oi cânta: (Wearing the crown of life upon my head, I will sing:) De Te-am iubit cândva, este acuma! (If ever I loved You, it is now!)
