Strofa 1 1. Sunt un bulgăr de nimic, (I am a clod of nothing,) Sunt un strop de rouă-n soare, (I am a drop of dew in the sun,) /: Dar cu cât mă văd mai mic, (/: Yet the smaller I see myself,) Cu-atât Tu, (The greater You,) Cu-atât Tu Te vezi mai mare. :/ (The greater You appear. :/)

Strofa 2 2. Dacă Doamne, m-ai făcut (If, Lord, You have made me) O fereastră către Tine, (A window toward You,) /: Cu cât sunt mai nevăzut, (/: The less visible I am,) Cu-atât Tu (The more clearly You,) Cu-atât Tu Te vezi mai bine. :/ (The more clearly You are seen. :/)

Strofa 3 3. Doamne, când suntem noi doi (Lord, when it is You and me,) N-are cel viclean ce-mi face (The evil one can do nothing to me.) /: Și cu cât îi duc război (/: And the more I wage war against him,) Cu-atât Tu (The more You,) Cu-atât Tu mă-mbraci cu pace. :/ (The more You clothe me in peace. :/)

Strofa 4 4. Vin din cer mi-ai dat să sorb, (You gave me wine from heaven to drink,) Şi pe ochii m-ai uns cu tină, (And anointed my eyes with clay.) Dar cu cât eram mai orb, (Yet the more blind I was,) /: Cu-atât Tu :/ (/: The more You :/) Mi-ai dat lumină. (Gave me light.)

Strofa 5 5. Și din toate câte-n rai (And of all the things in heaven) Le păstrezi Tu pentru mine (That You keep for me,) Nu mi-e dor de tot ce-mi dai, (I do not long for all You give me) /: Cât mi-e dor, (/: As much as I long,) Doamne, cât mi-e dor de tine. :/ (Lord, as much as I long for You. :/)
