Strofa 1 Doamne, nu vezi ce furtună, (Lord, do You not see the storm,) Ce vifor îngrozitor? (What a terrifying tempest?) Ce nor des, ce întunecime; (What thick clouds, what darkness;) Nu-i scăpare și-ajutor! (There is no escape or help!) Ori deși pierim nu-Ți pasă? (Do You not care that we are perishing?) Cum poți să dormi adânc? (How can You sleep so deeply?) Tot momentul ne-amenință moartea, (Death threatens us every moment) Peste-acest adânc umblând. (As we travel over this deep sea.)

Refren Vântul, marea ascultă de Mine: (The wind and sea obey Me:) Liniște, să fie. (Let there be stillness.) Furtuna pagubă nu face, (The storm can do no harm,) Nici om, nici demon sau orice să fie, (Nor can any person, demon, or anything else;) Să piară corabia nu poate, (The boat cannot perish) Când Domnul cerului în ea doarme. (When the Lord of heaven sleeps in it.) Căci toate Mi se supun Mie: (For all things submit to Me:) Liniște, să fie. (Let there be stillness.) Căci toate Mi se supun Mie: (For all things submit to Me:) Deci liniște. (Be still, then.)

Strofa 2 Doamne, grijuri mă apasă, (Lord, worries weigh on me;) Zi, noapte n-am odihnă, (Day and night I have no rest.) Inima mea-i adânc rănită; (My heart is deeply wounded;) Scoală și mă vindecă. (Rise and heal me.) A păcatului furtună (The storm of sin) Urlă asupra mea, (Roars over me;) Am să pier, Doamne ’Nvățătorule, (I am about to perish, Lord and Teacher.) O, vină, nu mă lăsa. (Oh, come; do not leave me.)

(And I have peace in my heart.) Te aștept, Doamne, pe Tine, (Lord, I am waiting for You;) Singur nu mă lăsa. (Do not leave me alone.) Cu Tine-ajung limanul cu pace, (With You I reach the harbor in peace,) Unde mă voi răpausa. (Where I will find rest.)
